The Palisades Fire was one of the most terrifying experiences we have ever faced, forcing us into an evacuation order with no safe place to house our entire Loving Hands Family. Splitting up was not an option, so we made the difficult decision to shelter in place, determined to keep the children and animals in our care safe. In our darkest moments, our incredible community stepped in—hosing down our property, tracking the fire’s movements, securing shelter for our animals, and ensuring we had food, water, and essential supplies. Despite five days without power and the challenges of a military-enforced shelter-in-place order, their generosity provided warmth, nourishment, and comfort, turning despair into hope. Because of their kindness, we made it through, forever grateful to these everyday heroes who showed us the true meaning of love and community.
